All images taken on low shutter speed at the Field Museum and Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago. Highlighting the angles of structures and use of lighting within these man-made settings displaying the "natural", I sought to explore the liminality of these institutions and insinuate their colonial histories via the "placelessness" and separateness from "the natural" that colonial structures and systems seek to create. The digitally-created repetition of these structural images were made as a nod to Rorschach tests as a means of psychological interpretation and meaning-making, as the legacy and impact of these institutions is highly interpretable, even as contemporarily they are presented as neutral educational facilities.
